Sometime Sally barman, Ham resident and general local legend Haydon Knapp is the biggest musical obsessive that we know. Haydon’s musical knowledge is surpassed only by the internet and even then it’s a bit touch and go (probably). Previously we asked him and his sidekick (Haydon’s Friend) to host a series of soirees which take us through the definitive sounds of each decade starting from the 1950s up to the present day. Having completed this in emphatic fashion (even the 1980s!), Haydon and his friend and his Spotify account are now taking us through the history of different musical genres. Having completed the blues last year, now they’ll take us hopping, bopping and jiving through the history of Rock ‘n’ Roll! The natural evolution of rhythm and blues that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s in the U.S., lead by the likes of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis and later on of course Buddy Holly and Elvis. The night starts at 7.30pm. It’s going to be a lot of fun!
