On the 3rd April 2013 a piece of paper was signed, keys were exchanged and a new stewardship of the Sally began. My predecessors had done an amazing job with the pub and it was for that reason I wanted to buy it. Over time I took the existing blueprint and kept adding to it. That period of time has now reached ten years. Over the course of the decade the pub has won National Pub of the Year, survived a pandemic, opened a microbrewery, opened and lost a sister pub, opened a pop-up restaurant, reared pigs and chickens, appeared on national TV, appeared on international TV, appeared on radio, in newspapers, books, magazines and much, much more. Throughout the decade the pub has also seen births, deaths, marriages, divorces, people falling out, people falling in love – the whole spectrum of life funneled beneath the microscope lens that is the front bar of the local village pub. That a small, wet-led community pub in a tiny rural village still exists in today’s climate, is something that continues to stagger me today. I am fully aware that the reason is does is because of the love and support it has received from so many of you and I am so, so grateful. Team Sally and I would therefore love to see as many of you as possible on this very special evening to celebrate the last ten years of the Sally. The exact details are still to be confirmed and We will announce more nearer the time but you can expect live music, delicious food, lots of friendly faces and of course, world class beer and cider! Get this in your diary quick-smart because we won’t be doing this again!!
Cheers,
Pete
